The Competitiveness Research initiative at CID examined factors that promote medium-term economic growth. CID researchers participated in producing the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report and African Competitiveness Report. A refined analytical tool for
exploring the exponential expansion of interconnections in our global
economy The annual Global Competitiveness Report is a major research
activity of the World Economic Forum. It was a result of a collaboration
between the WEF and the Center for International Development (CID) at
Harvard University. The WEF enlisted Professors Jeffrey Sachs and
Michael Porter of Harvard University as co-chairmen of the Report. GCR furnishes specific competitive information on the world's key economies. It uses a research-based Competitiveness Index in which rankings of relevant economies are given on a multitude of business and economic factors. These profiles cover: major performance indicators; each economy's rank in competitiveness; and highlights of particular strengths and weaknesses. |

The Latin American Competitiveness Report (LACR) provides an in depth look at the major factors influencing competitiveness in the region, trying to assess the competitive position of these countries, as well as indicating policies and actions to be promoted in order to improve their current situation. |

The GITR was produced under the leadership of the report's Managing Editor, Geoffrey Kirkman of the Information Technologies Group at CID, along with Jeffrey Sachs, Director of CID, Klaus Schwab, President of the World Economic Forum and Peter Cornelius, Director of the Global Competitiveness Program at the World Economic Forum. |
